Books to Read During 75 Hard — DEDICATED TO DISCIPLINE (2024)

Today we are going to go over the extensive list of books that I have read over the past year or so. I set out to complete a goal in July of 2019 to read 52 books in 52 weeks. In other words, read a book a week until July of 2020.

Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. However, that was also before I ever even knew what 75 Hard was. Oh, by the way, this list is great for those of you that are doing 75 Hard as all of these books fit into the readable category of books that can be read.

Some of these books are better than others, but none of them are awful. With each book, I’m going to give a small summary and how well I liked the book, but that’s it. I have other book lists on this blog that you can look into for further explanations of some of the books, including 5 Books to Make Your More Disciplined, 5 Books to Read During 75 Hard, and 24 Books to Make You More Successful 2020.

In addition, each book will have a link to where you can purchase from Amazon, assuming it can be found on Amazon. If you decide to use the link then I will get a small percentage of your sale at no cost to you.

Let’s begin.

Living with a SEAL by Jesse Itzler

Jesse Itzler is amazed by a Navy SEAL’s sheer will, drive, power, and mindset. So what does he do? He asks the SEAL to live and train with him for 30 days. The book goes over how the 30 days went, about the challenge of every single day, and how his mindset adjusted from day 1 to day 30. Overall, I love this book and I admire Jesse Itzler.

Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki

If there’s one book about personal finance that you should read, it’s this one. This book goes into the differences between living with a dad that’s rich and living with a dad that’s poor, and how their mindsets are so different. He talks about the mindset of making your money work for you. This is a must-read for those of you that are looking to become rich.

I Will Teach You to Be Rich by Ramit Sethi

While I said that Rich Dad Poor Dad is the #1 book to read about the mindset of finances, this is easily the #2 book. Sethi did an incredible job writing this book to teach people how to become rich, including a step-by-step guide on how to get close and closer to never needing to work again. This is easily in my list of top 10 books of all time.

The Obstacle is the Way by Ryan Holiday

The Obstacle is the Way is a book about just that – the obstacle is the way for you to proceed further and further in life. Holiday goes deep into how choosing difficult tasks and obstacles will put us further than others. I’m not going to lie, I didn’t love this book, but its message is still one that I wholeheartedly believe in.

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson

You have probably heard of this popular book. Manson talks about our desire and wants to be liked and to feel needed, and this consequently results in our unhappiness and lack of success. He goes into how a level of not caring about certain tasks needs to be held in order to be happy and successful, and that only then will someone move forward in life. I think this book is overrated, but it’s still good nonetheless.

Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin

Extreme Ownership changed the way I look at my life. The book talks about how just about every single thing that happens to a person is dictated by their ownership of tasks, actions, and mindset. Without owning everything, excuses will be made and lack of success will occur. This is another book on my top 10 list of all time.

The 10x Rule by Grant Cardone

The 10x Rule talks about how anything and everything you want in life needs to be multiplied by 10 to reach that goal. This is because your goal is holding you back because it’s too small, and complacency occurs because of it. The message of this book is great, but I think it’s an overrated read.

Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl

This book by Frankl is a classic and should be read by everyone. He speaks about being in a Nazi concentration camp, about how his entire family was killed, and about his search for the meaning of life because of it. This book is sad, but deep, and will make you ponder everything you do, every single day.

Zero to One by Peter Thiel and Blake Masters

The book talks about the stagnation of society and industries due to mostly comfort, and how more needs to be done to create new, groundbreaking technology. He urges new companies to seek out, research, and find new ways to conquer issues and problems in society through business.

Deep Survival by Laurence Gonzales

This interesting book talks about the mindset of surviving a life or death situation. The psychological differences between those that live and die during those situations are observed and studied through multiple real-world examples. This is a fascinating book.

Relentless by Tim S. Grover

Grover talks about the mindset of relentless. Unstoppable. Unbeatable. Being the best. It’s not a fluffy psychology book. It’s a real-world book giving examples of some of the best athletes in the world and they work. Are you a cooler, closer, or cleaner?

Grit by Angela Duckworth

Grit is defined and determined to be the trait of getting down and getting to work. Duckworth goes into the science of being gritty. I didn’t love this book but it’s still a good read.

The 4-Hour Work Week by Tim Ferris

The 4-Hour Work Week is a book telling about how people can and need to become more proficient with their jobs to utilize their time and lives more efficiently. He speaks about how to convince your boss to work remotely so that you can do your job in only a few hours each day or week, followed by living your life to the fullest. While I do think this book is overrated and not applicable to everyone, I think its message is one that everyone can benefit from.

Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins

Navy SEAL David Goggins speaks about his life, and about how his mind and body changed from a kid to a nobody, to a Navy SEAL. He speaks about his trials and troubles and how he surpassed them. This might be my favorite book of all time.

Leadership Strategies and Tactics by Jocko Willink

In this book, Jocko Willink speaks about how to approach and conquer different issues and events that a leader may face. He gives real-world examples that he experienced as a leader in the military and in his current business Echelon Front.

David and Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell

David and Goliath is a book telling about how the underdogs came out on top. The book is filled with real examples of how this happens. I was unsure about this book when I started it, but it has now been placed in my top 10 list.

Sell or Be Sold by Grant Cardone

Cardone speaks about how the world is all about sales – every decision made is essentially a sale or lack thereof. He goes on to mention how you need to become good at sales and closing, and that without these traits, success will not be had. I think this book is overrated but its message is good.

Sovereignty by Ryan Michler

Michler talks about how men have lost the mindset that makes men, men. He speaks about being a good person, being a leader in your community, about being a good dad, and about how to have sovereign thoughts to be a free human. This is a great book.

75 Hard by Andy Frisella

Frisella speaks about his mental strength program 75 Hard. He speaks about his origins, and how it reflected upon the construction of the program. He speaks about the evolution of the mind through the progression of the program. This is a fantastic book.

Never Eat Alone by Keith Ferrazzi

Never Eat Alone is a book about optimizing your time and chances to create and establish relationships with people to enhance your business and career success. He talks about how each meal you have is a time to sit with someone, establish relationships, and to enhance or create relationships that could help you in the future. This is another top 10 book for me, and it changed my way of life.

The Ultimate Guide to Body Recomposition by Jeff Nippard

This book is an all-inclusive guide about body recomposition. This book will teach you some true, science-based information that will further your understanding of body recomposition. This book is an educational guide. It’s expensive but well worth the read.

#AskGaryVee by Gary Vaynerchuk

This book is a compilation of questions asked to Gary V, the social media and business mastermind behind several large social media agencies. He goes deep into different subjects with his no-nonsense approach. This is an insightful and interesting book.

Good to Great by Jim Collins

Good to Great is a book about good companies becoming great companies; is it possible and what does it take? He talks about what the definition of a great company is, along with their similar characteristics. He gives many real-world examples and, though this book is a little outdated, it still provides will a great insight into being successful in business.

Conclusion

That’s my booklist so far, everyone. I will be continuously adding to this list as I read more books. I’ve got what I call my “library” though it’s just a single (but full) bookshelf in my office. I’m constantly adding more and more books to this shelf, though I hardly have any room left.
