What better way to build excitement for the premiere of “The Force Awakens” than with a Star Wars™ movie marathon party?

Star Wars™ Party: Recipes, Crafts & Decorations Inspired by "The Force Awakens" (1)

My 9-year-old son, Jackson, is obsessed with Star Wars™ and his excitement about the newest movie, “The Force Awakens,” is out of this galaxy. We have tickets for opening day — 3D IMAX, of course. We’re building up to the big premiere with all kinds of fun activities, starting with a movie marathon party to catch up on the six other movies that we’ve all seen too many times to count!

I decided to set up a Star Wars™ breakfast bar featuringspecially-markedStar Wars™ General Mills cereals andGo-Gurt®, as well as other inspiredtreats to snack on while we watched the movies.

I think this would be a fabulous setup for a kids’ sleepover or for a party after a midnight screening of “The Force Awakens.” You know, before you go see the movie again!

You’ll find the specially marked boxes of Star Wars™ Honey Nut Cheerios®, Cookie Crisp®, R2D2 Cereal® and Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal® on the cereal aisle at Walmart.

You better believe those were popular at our house, where any movieimage or trailer orspoiler is discussed and dissected for hours! (You think I’m kidding. But some days I think I live withC-3PO!)

I had to go to Tatooine to get blue bantha milk for our cereal.

Or you could just add a few drops of food coloring to some regular milk. Just don’t try to milk a Bantha by yourself.

For snacking during the movies, I made some droid-tastic snack mix with stormtrooper marshmallows, inspired by Catch My Party.

I usededible markersStar Wars™ Party: Recipes, Crafts & Decorations Inspired by "The Force Awakens" (9) to draw the stormtrooper helmets on the marshmallows. Not all of them, mind you, just the ones at the top of each serving of snack mix.

To make the snack mix, just combine 1 cup each ofHoney Nut Cheerios®, Cookie Crisp® and Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal® with 1 1/2 cups each of mini marshmallows and mini pretzels.

We served them in black cups decorated with gold stars, reminiscent of the opening credits of Star Wars™.

Go-Gurt® yogurt tubes already look like lightsabers.

We also had lightsaber grape kabobs, Leia-inspired cinnamon buns and wookie cookies, made from Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal®, for snacks. (Check out the easy recipe at the end of this post.)

We also served the edible lightsabers at Jackson’s epicStar Wars™ birthday partya few years ago.

I was actually able to repurpose a lot of ideas and supplies from that birthday celebration for this Star Wars™ party.

Like the R2-D2 photo frameswe gave guests as party favors and the R2-D2 cups that we made.

And Jackson and I made some party cups featuring our favorite droid, BB-8. We served jogan juice (or grape juice) in them.

You’ll need two different sizes of round labels to make these, plus the two free printables I created.

Jackson and I shot a quick video tutorial on how to make these DIY Star Wars™ party supplies. You can watch it here.

A few yards of Star Wars ™ fabric hung on the wall, and a tablecloth scattered with yellow stars made for a quick and easy setup.

As you can probably tell from this setup, Jackson isn’t the only one who is excited about “The Force Awakens.” My husband and I both grew up with these movies. I remember seeing all the originals in the theater with my dad and my brother. We even dressed as Darth Vader and Leia one Halloween. And my husband, Bruce, remembers waiting in line with his dad for hours to see the first Star Wars™ movie when it was re-released in theaters.

As precious as those memories are, nothing compares to experiencing the magic of Star Wars™ through your child’s eyes. Jackson is frizzling with excitement about the new movie. I’ll be surprised if he sleeps any Thursday night, and I’m certain he’ll spend the next month or more quoting his favorite lines and dissecting every battle scene and theorizing about what’s to come in the series.

And some day, he’ll tell his kids all about seeing Star Wars™ “The Force Awakens” and all the cool things his parents did to make it memorable.

In this trip down memory lane, I haven’t forgotten that I promised you the recipe for the Chewbacca no-bake wookie cookies.

Where are the kabob holders from for your grape lightsabers?

I’ve actually searched for them and haven’t been able to find them again. They’re Wilton brand, and my mother-in-law found them at Sam’s Club.

How fun is this? I love that it’s a breakfast party. My hubs loves cereal and Star Wars so maybe we will have to have a lil breakfast party before we see the show!
