11% Tomatometer 57 Reviews 83% Audience Score 2,500+ Ratings For years Patty was overweight, which caused her to be bullied, ignored and underestimated by the people around her. But she is now thin and seeking revenge against those who ever made her feel bad about herself through fat-shaming. Enter Bob Armstrong, a disgraced attorney with a passion for coaching beauty pageant contestants. As one of the only people who sees Patty's potential, he takes her under his wing -- first as a legal client, then as a pageant contestant. Bob hopes to coach Patty to the top of the pageant game, but he and wife Coralee have no idea how deep her rage goes or how far she will go to exact revenge on the people she feels have wronged her. What to Know

Critics Consensus

Broad stereotypes, clumsy social commentary, and a failed attempt at "wokeness" make Insatiable hard to swallow.

Insatiable: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Michael Idato Sydney Morning Herald [Insatiable] lacks dimension, its characters are unsteady on their narrative feet and while it might seem funny, irreverent and boundary-pushing at times, it lacks those characteristics in enough volume to sustain itself. May 14, 2019 Full Review Insatiable: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Matthew Gilbert Boston Globe The performers are fine, but they are left hanging by the script, as it drifts in and out of confusion. May 14, 2019 Full Review Insatiable: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Sophie Gilbert The Atlantic Broadly cynical about pageants. It's cynical about everything... Beyond that, though, Insatiable has no clear intention. Dec 13, 2018 Full Review Insatiable: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Sophie Charara NME (New Musical Express) Where do we even start with this fatsuit-to-skinny teen show? Apr 28, 2021 Full Review Insatiable: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Andy Swift TV Line The premiere is a hodgepodge of fluctuating accents, conflicting tones and clunky exposition, which is a pretty accurate representation of the series as a whole. May 14, 2019 Full Review Insatiable: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Daniella Bondar The Mary Sue Satire isn't easy to pull off, but if you're going to make a TV show where the premise rides a very thin line between okay and offensive, then maybe pare it down a little and focus on the parts you want to come through. It was amazingly fresh Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/01/23 Full Review Tatyana K Hysterical! Yes, it's silly and dark, but so entertaining. I binged. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/17/23 Full Review Celine D Although it is badly rated, I loved the show. It shows realism, a fat girl that suddenly got what she wanted, but still dealt with insecurities. It's about showing someone's dark side while you thing they are perfect. It's about struggles, mixed with humor. I relate to this show alot and re-watch it every month. Please make a season 3! Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/29/23 Full Review AZA A A disoriented mess with and unfocused plot, poor messaging, and unlikable protagonists that are presented as perfect. Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/16/23 Full Review Aniyah M I was left wanting more. Currently searching for a show just like this. Not all the episodes seem as thought out as others but when it's good it's really good, to me at least. It's not a show you should go into expecting a clean cut story of a fat girl becoming beautiful with happily ever after. Pay attention to the dark comedy, satirical titles the show gives itself. Some aspects are sillier than others, and harder to swallow but overall it reads well. People see things they aren't used to and immediately call it an attempt to be woke. Just accept that having LGBT relations, interracial relations etc. isn't always trying to make a statement. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/06/23 Full Review Christina A I really love this show! It's so unique and I find myself rewatching it over and over! Looking past all of the shows comedic and fictional elements it shows the ugly truth behind eating disorders and how they don't just magically go away. As someone who has always shared a bad relationship with food it seemed realistic and accurate when it came to the topic of eating disorders. All in all the show is fun and genuinely "camp." The characters are funny and relatable. I don't see the issue with it and if you do then - I don't know - go watched Greys Anatomy or Friends or something - it'll suit your preferences better.
